Top Four Things That Will Drive Your Real Estate Agents Crazy

Buying a home is an exciting decision – but also a little scary, and one of the larger financial decisions that most people will make in their lives. The advice and guidance of an experienced and plugged-in Realtor is vital when house-hunting – and that relationship must be protected. Yet a lot of house-hunters manage to drive their agents crazy by doing one or more of these four incredibly annoying things:

  • Endless Viewings. Buying a home is a huge decision, but when you set up viewing after viewing, bringing along a crowd of “advisors” each time, and spend inordinate amounts of time in the home without making an offer, quickly souring an agent.
  • Extreme Low balling. After your agent has worked so hard to find the right home for you, nothing drives them crazier than an extremely low-ball offer. Unjustified low-ball offers are simply a waste of everyone’s time – and time is money.
  •  Not Informing Your Agent. Tactics like planning to ambush the seller with reduction requests in escrow might sound like genius, but if your agent isn’t aware of your plan, it just makes them look bad.
  • Wasting Their Time. This is a broad category, but what it boils down to is a lack of serious commitment. Asking your agent to do a lot of legwork when you’re not actually ready to buy anything, or constantly revising your “must haves” in a house hunt both mean your agent wastes a lot of their most valuable asset: Time.

Remember, your agent is your most valuable ally. They know the area, they know the properties, and they’re working for you. Keeping on their good side is your key to success in your search for a home.
